Speaker Solutions

From 3D design reviews up to fully tailored solutions, SELTECH is here to support you and allow you to always be innovative and competitive in the audio and electronics market.

Modeling capabilities
at
system level

Mainly relying on Lumped Element (LEM) models for rapid computation in 1-dimensional analyses and Boundary Element (BEM) or Finite Element (FEM) models, Seltech offer the possibility to develop and tailor a loudspeaker system to your application. The LEM approach is well known for its fast computation time when a 1-dimensional analysis is sufficient, while the BEM/FEM approach allows to predict 3-dimensional phenomena typically occurring on a speaker diaphragm

Modeling capabilities
at
transducer level

Modeling at the transducer level allows for precise customization of sound signatures, significantly enhancing audio performance, especially when mechanical modifications are not feasible.

At Seltech, we use the renowned COMSOL Multiphysics solution for this purpose. This advanced tool provides detailed insights into acoustic and structural behaviors, enabling us to fine-tune every aspect of the sound signature.

By leveraging these capabilities, we ensure that our clients receive speakers that are high-performing and tailor-made to their specific requirements, delivering a truly personalized audio experience.

Design
of surrounding volumes

When integrated into a device, volumes surrounding the speaker will impact its bandwidth: a tight rear volume (A) will control the low frequency region while a non-direct front volume (B) will control the high frequency region. A proper design of these volume is a fundamental step for getting the correct bandwidth into your application.

Low Frequency (LF) extension/Curve
tuning

Two historical techniques allowing to extend the LF response are the so-called Bass-Reflex and Passive Radiator systems, respectively invented by A. L. Thuras in 1932 and H. Olson in 1935. Both methods rely on the resonator principle, which when correctly tuned will bring additional LF energy below the speaker roll-off frequency.

To go further, if an audio processor is considered in the design, an equalization stage will allow to both extend the LF response and correct unwanted phenomena occurring in the system by applying multiple filters in cascade.

Testing capabilities

Correctly evaluating the acoustical behavior of a speaker system is always a challenge, especially in low frequencies. Thanks to environments like anechoic chambers, Seltech is able to fully qualify a system, from the axis response to the spatial directivity, including harmonic and non-harmonic distortion.
